Bunchhoeung TEK
Bunchhoeung TEK (Project Officer) is currently completing his two-year Master of Biotechnology (Food Microbiology) at Melbourne’s RMIT University, Australia (2013-2014).
He has served as the surveillance officer for Communicable Disease Control Department, Ministry of Health in Phnom Penh, Cambodia since late July 2009. Prior to his current assignment, he served for 11 years as the Deputy Director, Chief of Pharmacy, Chief of Health Information System, Chief of Laboratory for Stong Operational District Health Office, Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia.
Bunchhoeung earned a Master of Public Health in Disease Control and Prevention from National Institute of Public Health (NIPH) Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 2009, Diploma of Pharmacist from Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry (University of Health Science) Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 1997.
For Bunchhoeung, studying abroad is very challenging both academically and socially. So to be part of one’s community is very important for the benefits of us and community at large. CANS is a Cambodian student community with large network in Australia where we can seek support with a number things such as looking for accommodation, part-time work and assignments.
CANS’s Joy of Reading project is really inspires me to be a member of project team as I undestand that accessing to educational resources especially books are very limited to Cambodian children, in particular in poor community. JoR will contribute to the long term benefit of the children themselves and I hope it will encourage and inspire them to pursuit higher education and even at reputable overseas educational institutions.
