Seth Pisal Kauv
Seth Pisal Kauv (Assistant Secretary) is currently pursuing his master degree in Telecommunication and Network Engineering at La Trobe University, under Australia Award Scholarship. He is also a Postgraduate Student Representative in IEEE Student Branch at La Trobe.
Prior coming to Australia, Pisal obtained PETRONAS Scholarship to pursue his study at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) in 2003. He got his bachelor degree (first class honor) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, specializing in Communication Systems. He has been selected to be a representative of UTP Alumni – Cambodia Chapter.
During his five years in UTP, he had obtained several awards such as Dean’s List Awards, UTP International Student Committee Best Student Awards, but most noticeably the silver medal at UTP Engineering Design Exhibition for his Final Year Project, the first Cambodia student to achieve this award in UTP. Other than academic activity, he also involved some extra co-curriculum activities such as the cultural performance and setting up Cambodian Student Society in the university.
Being a child in a family whose father was a teacher and mother was a food seller at school, he was struggling to study due to financial hardship and time constraint. He said, however, “The importance of education had gotten into my brain since I was young because my parents kept saying it almost every day.”
With his hard work, in 2000, he was among the top 10 students in Mathematics (number 10) in Cambodia after 3 days of exam with the other outstanding students from all over Cambodia.
Pisal believes that human resource is one of the most important elements to develop the country. He wishes to share his knowledge especially in the field of technology, science, and engineering to the young and enthusiastic next generation.
His belief in education and unity encourages him to be part of CANS where he can interact and socialise with other students.
