Ratanak Lok
Ratanak Lok (CANS Cambodia Assistant Treasurer) is a Financial Controller at Sokha Angkor Resort – a 5 Star Hotel in Cambodia’s ancient capital of Siem Reap.
He holds a Master Degree of Business Administration (MBA) from Build Bright University and has over 18 years of experience working with some high-profile companies such as Sokha Hotel and Naga Resorts and Casinos Limited.
Ratanak likes to learn new things and has passion in education. He strongly believes that education can help to reduce and break poverty cycle, and ultimately helps to develop his country.
“In a country where there is good and strong human capital, that country will be prosperous and develop itself quickly such as of that in developed nations,” he said.
He enjoys sharing his knowledge and experiences, both in his profession and in personal life with families, friends, and colleagues. Ratanak wants to motivate them to keep on learning because it is a life-long journey that doesn’t just end after year 12 nor after a Bachelor degree.
Seeing real struggle in the education system in Cambodia that is yet to be more developed and strengthened and that a lot of young kids don’t have good reading and writing habits from a young age, prior to joining CANS, Ratanak has been trying to promote such activities in a number of his own ways.
Fortunately, he was introduced to an Australian-based Cambodian Australian Network of Students Incorporated (CANS Inc.) by its former president Mr. Alex Khun. And he was so impressed by CANS’s Joy of Reading project in promoting reading amongst poor kids in rural and remote areas.
Always wanted to do something for his beloved country, and by sharing CANS’s vision and objective in promoting education amongst disadvantaged kids have led Ratanak to become an active member of CANS.
He has put his hand up to represent CANS in Siem Reap. He says, he is fully committed and wants to dedicate himself to help promoting CANS’s Joy of Reading and Joy of Writing projects in Siem Reap and other provinces where they are being implemented.
