Say Sok
Say Sok was born in 1979 and obtained his general education in Kampong Cham, Cambodia. In 1998 he left his hometown for university education in Phnom Penh, where he earned his B.Ed. in English (TEFL) in 2002. Upon graduation, he was awarded the lecturing position at the English Department of the Royal University of Phnom (RUPP).
In 2003, he left for Japan to pursue his master’s degree in Political Science at Kobe University, where he was a founder of and active contributor to the Cambodian Students’ Charity in Kobe.
Back to Cambodia in 2005, he resumed his teaching at the English Department, and in 2007-08 he was a deputy team leader at Camprobe, a research company in Cambodia. In 2009 he married Ms. Sophourn Ep.
Before his departure to Australia in 2009, he had contributed significantly to establishing the International Studies Program (currently Department of International Studies) at RUPP. The program was formally launched in 2009 and has been a great success. He has recently completed his PhD degree in Political Science from Deakin University, Australia (pending conferral, as of December 2012).
Due to decades of wars and destruction, Cambodia urgently needs the participation from its citizens in its state rebuilding. My humble hope is that this network will contribute to this crucial mission, initially via assisting as much as possible the rebuilding of the country’s educational structure and resources and assisting prospective students who come to pursue their degrees down under.
